Annual report presented to the ambassadors of EU member states

Upon the invitation of EU Delegation to Serbia, Commissioner for Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic presented to the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union a report on the activities implemented by the institution in 2018 and introduced them to the main challenges regarding protection from discrimination and the promotion of equality, as well as with those relating to the necessity of preserving independence, emphasizing the important role of the National Assembly for the work of independent state organs.

Janković stressed the significance of high percentage rate of complying with the recommendations given by Commissioner, and specifically referred to the strategic litigations that the Commissioner is currently conducting, including the proceedings against the Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad for discrimination against women and LGBTI persons.

Ambassadors of EU Member States thanked for presented reports, praised the work of the institution for the protection of equality and provided their full support.

In addition to the letter of credit, the report on the activities was also presented by Stanojla Mandic, Deputy Commissioner for Access to Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection. The meeting also highlighted the need to elect a new Commissioner for Access to Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection as soon as possible.
